Towing a 2011 Ford Expedition

It looks like this vehicle can be towed flat with a transmission pump along with all the other requirements (lights, braking). BlueOx does not have a base plate for it but it seems like https://www.etrailer.com/base-plates.htm has some items which can be used in place of an entire plate.
Anyone out there who has done something similar?
Thanks for your help.

Cliff,

Great news. Sounds like the 2011 can't have the neutral tow turned on but a 2012 could. Maybe another used vehicle is a better solution than rigging up the 2011?

Thanks,

Just as an FYI, all Ford 2012 (and up) 4x4's can be flat towed, you may have to take it to the dealer to have the "Neutral Tow" turned on via computer. The 2011's and earlier had some limits, except the Explorer & Ranger could have the Neutral Tow enabled. I work for a Ford dealer, and tow a 2003 Explorer with the neutral tow enabled. I didn't spend $300 on the neutral tow kit because all it is basically an LED that plugs in by the steering wheel, I got an LED from Radio Shack for $2.50 and haven't looked back, works like a champ.

You're picking an awfully heavy toad. Our 2010 four wheel drive Expedition weighs in at 6100 lbs.
