towing with deflated 5th airborne?

Question

I have a Reese 5th airborne kingpin. I damaged the air fill line valve stem (don't ask) so I couldn't fill the air spring.  I have scheduled to take it to a shop to have a new air line assembly installed. Is it safe to tow the fiver with the air spring completely deflated? Would it cause any damage to the kingpin? It does have the shock absorber as well.

I don't think you need to worry. I have towed with mine with very low pressure because I forgot to check it the first time out in the spring. It just sits down on the bottom stops. Does not sqeeze the bag. And would have no effect on the king pin.

But you could call them if you need to verify it.

Make sure that there are some stops in place to keep the hitch from completely collapsing and pinching the air spring. If there is not mechanical stop, you probably should get a couple of wood blocks or wedges to keep the air spring from being pinched.

You should be okay. It is an easy part to fix if it is just the valve that is damaged. Unthread it and match with a replacement at napa or carquest.
