I am thinking of buying a TPMS, a Tire Pressure Monitor System. Is it recommended for a fifth wheel trailer? And which one would you buy?

We just upgraded the TST system we owned for 8 years to the new system with the color monitor and replaceable batteries. Really simple to program and install. The new monitor is so much easier to view when sitting on my dash than the old system. For the money having a system could save you many times the cost of the system if it saves you from having a blow out/tire failure while under way. Love my TST!!

I like the TST system because it allows me to replace the batteries as needed (about every year or two). I don't know whether other systems now have that feature.

We have used the Tire Minder system for 7 years. It has alerted us twice that required attention, Awesome. It was not fast enough to alert us on a tire tread separation blowout at 65 on the highway, Not so good. It has alerted me falsely twice, worth a manual check. It is just another tool in the box. I still check PSI before trips manually.
I do check the tire status often while on the road and check temperatures as well as PSI. Only you can decide if the $ is worth it. I felt it was. Just do not count on it by itself. A high quality PSI gauge cannot be beat.

Tst 507 is what I have also, purchased about 6 years ago

I also use the TST 507 system.I like it so much I leave the ones on the truck all the time lets me know if the tires need air. I have found it to be real accurate.

I don't have one yet BUT I realize the need for it! I watch my rear camera on the MH all the time fearing that my "toad" has had a Blow out which I wouldn't know about until plenty of damage was done. Same goes for the inner of dual wheels....you could drive 100's of miles without knowing you loss pressure on an inside tire.

Look at a TPMS as another RV insurance: you hope you never have to use it, but you'll be glad you have it if you need it.

I like the TST system, but it's the only one I've ever used. I'm not too crazy about the long lag time between sensor loss and notification of such. But I'm moved the monitor around in the cab and don't seem to be plagued with signal loss any more.

This question has been asked and answered numerous times in numerous threads.
I believe that TPMS will eventually save your fifth wheel from damage due to a blow out. I won;t leave home without it. I had it on my fifth wheel and it warned me of a blow out at least 3 times. I was able to stop and change the tire before it disintegrated and damaged my trailer.
I use TST and am very happy with it.

Brand? Does it matter as long as the one you select is capable of receiving signals from your trailera tires. People swear by them. But I personally would skip it unless I was towing with cheap ST tires.
