SORRY to all if I was inconsistent in my statements, but I was not trying to be, I was trying to be complete.
OK, so went with trailer today. Locked up pretty quickly. NO TOUCHING THE BRAKES, not once!
Went quite a distance without trailer, just cannot get them to lock up.
As far as OP (me) being inconsistent, this may just be me not knowing the terminology...
The trailer has electric brakes. That is all it has.
The jeep has a plug for an electric brake controller.
I added an electric brake controller, when I got the trailer.
There is no computer or anything on the trailer side, it is just electric brakes.
I am starting to believe it is my brake job, although I have done many, many before, but have not ruled it out a wiring issue, although OLD MECHANIC seems to know what he is saying, and thus I am leaning that way.
I have a friend who used to work on brakes in a shop, who is coming over tomorrow. After reading everything here, and all the GENEROUS help, I am thinking I must have done something incorrectly, although I am not sure what.
I will get back to you all on the following:
What he says about my brake job.
What happens when I tow without brake controller attached. I am putting this off until he comes over and looks as the brake job. Just a little afraid.
I ALSO WANT TO THANK everyone who advised me not to ride brake. I am not consistently riding, but did want to be honest with all the information. Pulling the trailer may add to my doing it, I just don't remember, as I only tow it about 3 times the last two years I had it, and this spring. I WILL NEVER EVER, (raising right hand) DO IT AGAIN!! I was just saying it was not a new factor in the information. However, I may have gotten away with it before and now cannot.
I ALSO WANT TO THANK everyone who chimed in, very generous. Thank you! I will get back to you with new information tomorrow.
