Transferring water

An extra 12v DC rv water pump...roughly $65 for one via PPL some tubing and and wiring with alligator clips

Rigged my 35 gallon transfer tank with a tire/wheel valve stem and a hose/valve to the bottom of the tank. Presurize the tank with a compressorr and turn on the valve.

My fresh water tank is near my ladder, and I can use a bike tie down strap to hold the tank in place, and a syphion to get the water from portable tank into the fresh water filler.

My plan for full timing includes a 15 - 35 gallon fresh water tank in the back of a SUV towed car, and a 12 volt pump!

My vote would be to buy another 12 volt pump! Then such the water out and into the fresh tank.

You can also buy a 3 way valve, install that in the intake line for your pump. If you have the ability to open a valve, and then direct shore water into the fresh water tank, this might be possible, then install a 3 way valve, and short tubing to go into the portable tanks.

I have a battery powered (2-d) kerosene siphone pump to transfer water. Worked great the time I tried it out in the driveway. About $10 I think it was + the batteries.

FWIW, I use a collapsable 5-gallon flexible jug and jug pour it into the fresh water fill. I get some exercise while it drains but it works out just fine; example product of what I use:

Get a pump that can also be a spare for the RV.

Like Need-A-Vacation, although ours is a turkey fryer oil pump!! Runs on 2 D cells, and will lift the water up at least 2 ft +. Will transfer the 6 or 7 gals from a blue in aboot 3-4 minutes. Got it on ePrey for around $9 incl free frt!!!

I use one of these pumps from Harbor freight. Has worked for 3 years now.

If your on board pump is reasonably accessible, a few plumbing fittings and a short length of hose will make the filling process quite easy.
