Travel souveniers

Have been traveling with the family now for a few years. Usually I purchase a T-shirt or more during our travels. However have concluded that they dont last as a memory of a trip due to wear and tear. My DW collects shot glasses, one of my sons collects snow globes, and my mother collected spoons. Purchased a TT lapel/hat pin recently and have decided I will attach them to my hat as a record of our travels. Already have a GSC life member pin on it, now the fun part of getting on line and finding ones from the states we have already been. Just curious to learn what others collect on their travels.

We have 35 years of Christmas ornaments from our travels. Each time we decorate the tree, we remember those trips.

Rather than buying a bunch of the same thing with different images on it (e.g., shot glasses, keychains, etc.), I simply buy something that I find that I'll enjoy. Every time I look at that item, I will remember exactly where I bought it and the memories of the trip will be triggered. In addition, I don't find myself with 1,000 mugs that are just taking up space. So, my handmade glass miniature mantel clock will always take me back to Halifax, NS; my amber pendant and earrings will take me back to Montreal, QB; my flea art will take me back to Monterey, CA; and so on.

For me, I take greater pleasure out of the stuff I buy this way. And I don't worry about having to display everything. If I buy a pretty serving bowl, I will always smile when I use it at my table, etc.

I collect t-shirts and mugs. I don't really have a need or room for either. Husband collects pins with an occasional t-shirt thrown in. I take lots of photos and used to put them all in albums, but now I usually write a blog with photos which I can turn into a book. It takes up less room than a photo album.

we used to collect mugs but after 30+ years we have mugs coming out our eyes. I'm now collecting souvenier pins...a lot less room to store and just as useless as the mugs. ๐Ÿ™‚

We collect pins from the area and have a cork board that we put them on. They are small, lightweight and easy to display, but we are now on our second board.
