Truck Scale Weighing Procedure

I'm picking up my LTV Unity on Friday and want to stop at either a TA Travel Center or Flying J on the way back to get wheel and/or axle weights at a public scale. Are most scale operators familiar with RV owners getting these weights? Is there a protocol or procedure to be followed? I don't want anyone getting disgusted or impatient while I attempt to get my rig weighed.
  • Drive on the scales, one axle on each scale, push the button and when they ask what is the truck number say private. After they weigh you pull off the scales, park, go in and pay for the slip. Don't park in the way.
  • After weighing it empty. You will want to get it weighed fully loaded.
So unless you want to do this twice.
Just wait and get it weighed after loading it as you would use it.
  • Scaled my truck/with TC pulling pontoon at a CAT scales in April. The call button was too high for me to reach while on the scales. Had to go inside to tell the attendant, then back to the truck and wait for her to say that she had it. Gary

x2 I was just going to post that the hardest part about weighing is reaching the stupid call button which is positioned for the Semi drivers. I'm 6'1 and almost fell on my head trying to stand on my running boards but finally got it :o
