TV Rear Shock Leaking.

I had driven home from my folks friday night and noticed that the rear right shock had essentially exploded in my garage.

Asked the folks if they had oil in their driveway, they didn't so it happened while driving down the hwy.

Not a year old yet, however probably 10 mos old, i'll be taking it back to get it replaced.

Question is, am i having to over extend my shocks in the process of hooking up my TT? My driveway is slanted so depending on how well i have it parked, i do have to extend the power jack quite a bit to get my sway bars in place.

Just hadn't seen this before, so perhaps just a bad shock.

  • Put fox 2.0s all around on my truck, like i said about a year ago at an aftermarket place. sounds like i'll replace them both. we don't really head out anywhere to far away until mid august, hopefully i remember to get it done!
  • Agreed you didn't cause this. Hopefully the dealer will replace both, but it's not the end of the world if they won't. There are thousands of RV's running down the road with worn out shocks or no shocks at all and they do just fine.

    I agree - bad shock.
I suggest you ask the dealer to replace BOTH rears or they will no longer perform equally.
  • It's just a bad shock. Shops don't disconnect the shocks before they put vehicles on a lift. You didn't cause this.
