Foreign drivers must have either a licensed issued by the state of North Carolina, or one issued by their home state in the U.S. International driver’s licenses are not honored in North Carolina. So, if someone is only visiting the area and not planning to stay for an extended period, they should look for other forms of transportation during their visit to North Carolina. In most cases, if you have an international driver’s license that is up-to-date, that license is valid for up to one year after the date you entered the U.S.
