Unhealthful food at Assisted Living Facility

I've been at this facility for a while and while it is a nice place with nice people, I feel they're really harming their residents' health, perhaps without realizing it. When I first arrived here I was appalled at the amount of brown sugar they dumped onto the oatmeal in the morning. It appeared to be about 1/2 cup or more. I couldn't believe the residents ate it that way. Many of them are`going to be harmed, I'm sure. Of course, I ask for sugar on the side.
In the same vein, the soups are heavily laden with salt. I put in a complaint about that but they answered they couldn't do much about it. The company they purchase their soup stock from adds the excess salt. I then inquired about a salt-free diet, but they can't do that here because it's not a health care facility or hospital. Can't wait to get home and back to healthy eating! Rant over.
