Update old b&w companion with new rvb3500 base

Has anyone done this? With my old style companion my hitch pin center line is behind the center line of my axle. Will the new base allow me to move this forward? The goose ball is around 4" in fron...

It is probably to allow towing fifth wheel with a short bed truck. Checked my sb Dodge and pin is behind axle like you describe.
