Updated: A/C works, but not the heat pump

I've got a combination A/C / heat pump in my MH and I'm having an unusual problem with it. The A/C works fine (compressor works, fan works, blows cold) but at night when it's calling for heat, it simply doesn't respond (doesn't even read "waiting" on the display).

The other two heat pumps work fine, just not the front one. The furnace system works as well but won't come on unless the temperature falls well below the set point because it favors the heat pumps.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

UPDATE: Even though the unit is under warranty, I found it more convenient to order the ambient air sensor myself around $29.00 with shipping) and change it out. I called Oak Park RV repair in Salem, OR and Lenn came out and replaced the sensor for $25.00. It worked. Now everything is fine and I fixed it for less than $60.00. Thanks for your suggestions.
  • If it is a Coleman unit it is either the reversing valve solenoid or controller. Just went through that with ours.

I would start by cleaning the contacts on the phone cable behind the Tstat if it's a single zone Tstat. Next I would clean them on the control board on the roof unit's control board. If this doesn't solve the problem.....

Hopefully it's just a bad reversing valve elect solinoid coil. The default on newer units is cooling... older units like mine is heat. You can remove the cover and check for 120V to the coil when on heating, there will not be any 120V to the coil on cooling. IF you do not have 120V to the coil when trying to heat... It's a bad control board.

It's a Dometic. I called them and they suggested it might also be the ambient temp sensor.
