Upholstery Cleaning Help

During our last trip, the daughter spilled juice on the cushion in our dinette. Despite our attempts to clean it on the spot, it has left a slight stain. The dinette cushions have a zippered edge on them allowing the foam pad to be removed.

My question is, what is the best way to go about cleaning the stain on the cushion case? My initial thought was to pull the foam out and put it in the washing machine once we got home. The wife is afraid that I will shrink the case by doing this. Next thought was to dry clean it, but wife doesn't like the idea of harsh chemical residue on a cushion that doubles as a bed when the dinette is collapsed.

Has anyone tried washing their dinette cushion cases? Can you recommend a method so I don't wreck them?

Thanks!

I just cleaned all the cushions on my dinette set. Took them out of the RV, set them on sawhorses and used the upholstery attachment from my carpet cleaning machine. I really soaked them (knowing I was probably going to incur some type of damage). They cleaned beautifully and were dry in a couple of hours. I did not remove them from the foam. I used Wal Mart's carpet cleaning solution. Feeling brave, I took the machine inside and cleaned the sofa in the same manner. Again, great results.

Try cleaning as above without removing it. Place a towel between the foam and material. Sometimes, it can be near impossible to get the foam back in.

What type of stain was it, I know you said juice but ? Be careful not to put too many chemicals on because it might be overkill and then nothing will remove the stain. Also do a test, some cleaners will remove colour from fabric.

You can also try resolve to get it out...do NOT wash in washing machine...a very good chance it will shrinkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

Great advise.
I really don't want to wreck the case and don't want to absorb anything into the pad either. I'll give this a try.

yes they can shrink and sometimes depending on what material yours is made out of it won't cover over the pad again.

I pull the cover off the foam padding. Then place a towel on the inside of the cover and then spray 'Shout It Out' stain remover on the top and scrub and rinse. The towel on the inside will "draw out" the stain completely. Good luck it really will come clean for you.
