US post new Mexican travel warnings

I don’t remember the U.S. exporting that many guns...hand, rifle, shotgun, autos etc...illegally to Somalia as we have to Mexico.

Here is the Official US Travel warning Looks mostly the same.

A quick check online would have shown you whether the newspaper article made sense or not, rather than rejecting it outright.

x2. I have a friend in WA who thinks I'm taking my life in my hands camping near the border in CA. I guess he must be reading this junk.

People back home ask me if I am seeing lots and lots of "Illegals" during my visit to South Texas. I ask them back, "How would I know?" The people down here act "normal" and don't carry signs announcing their history. A lot of fear and hate in the world today. I do see lots and lots of that everywhere I go.

That's why we stopped going to Mexico years ago

Nothing wrong with travel advisories and exercising caution when traveling abroad, but don't let the fearmongers here keep you from going to Mexico. BTW, almost 37 million Americans traveled to Mexico last year.

That's why I don't go to California or Illinois. Dangerous country out there. There was a shooting in my hometown last evening. McAllen, Texas which is about ten miles from the border is one of the safest cities in the United States.

Now I'm wondering if I should stop playing the Mega-Million lotto. I'm thinking that if I were to win, the danger would come to me, no matter where I happen to be. Would I become a prisoner in my own fortress? It's almost like I'm paying too much for a problem which will probably not happen in my lifetime.
