Anyone using a scan gauge on a Ford Explorer Sport Trac for transmission temps?I just installed one on my Port Trac and cannot get a reading for the transmission temperatures. It shows the letters TFT but the numbers (temp) is blank. Got any ideas on why?
Thanks

Thanks everyone, it took two calls to Scan Gauge (they are very helpful) and they walked me through inputting the correct numbers. I now have a transmission temp display.

Leroy, when I was setting up my Scan Gauge for my 06 F250 5.4L engine, 5-speed TorgueShift trans, I had to create an X-gauge for the Trans Fluid Temp (TFT). On the Scan Gauge site there were 4 or 5 codes listed for that year. I got lucky and it was the first one on the list that gave me the temp. Hope that helps and good luck.

Thank you all for your response. I have entered a code but as suggested may nit be the right one. I'm gonna call Scan Gauge tomorrow and see what they have to say. Again, Thank you.

On my 2005 Explorer the Scangauge did show Transmission temp. Yes I did have to look up the code and enter it.

As others have mentioned you need to enter the X gauge code.

I had to enter the xcode for my 06 class A motorhome trans temp and it worked, took me a couple of tries tho.

x2 On our 2006 E450 it did not read the transmission temp at first, had to enter code and now works. Manual is in MH right now and will try to check later after shoveling the snow, or use the scan gauge website, you may need to anyway for the code, if I remember right there was a list of several codes to try.

Afraid I can't help you except to say not all vehicles have that info available at the OBD II port, and that I use a scan Guage on my F250 specifically for tranny temp & love it.

On my last truck , my reader didn't give em a trans temp.
On another forum , one poster who came along was one of the engineers for ford, who designed transmissions.
He told me some tranny's didn't have a temp sender. I could have installed one, but traded it before actually needing one.
They are pretty much standard now.
I doubt many people even know what temp their tranny is supposed to run, I know I've forgotten.
I do still have an older 07 ranger with no trans temp, my cheap OBD2 scanner reads it fine. Even on the 06 f 1560 , I traded it read the codes, just not the temp, due to no temp sender.
You could probably install a factory temp sender switch and your computer would recognize, and read it. Probably.

I've tried my OBD2 trader on my last Exploder and found that it for whatever reason does not read transmission codes. Apparently you need the $4000 Sun reader to see them. No idea why
