Venting

I get the vent! I hate those stray low limbs and jutting branches. I also prune 'alittle' if needed cause I am not voluntarily ruining my $50K plus 5th wheel. Ain't happening. Many sites I can't do cause of low hanging branches...but that is fine. but if I fit and something is nailing my RV yea I am doing something about it.

now satellite, no, you can't control that one. I enjoy the trees etc and if you can't get a signal among the trees in that cg, then move elsewhere or turn it off

Cutting down trees for your satellite signal is absurd. Trimming trees back some so that RV's can safely traverse the roads and fit into the site is another thing altogether. I was at an RV park last weekend that had a small tree at the inside of every right angle turn that was required to get to my site.

While it was navigable, it did require slow moving and carefully hugging the outside of the corner. This weekend the park was fairly empty when we arrived, it would be more interesting during a holiday weekend when the park is camped and there are trucks parked closer to the road.

My funny moment was going back to the campground office for something and there was a lady inside demanding that they cut down the 3 tall huge trees because they could not get a sat signal. I figured those tress were there for about 50 yrs and she has been there for about 15 minutes..needless to say they didnt do it. She then demanded they move her to a new site...they replied the campground was full..sorry.. and then she stormed off grumbling and mumbling.

If one runs their MH into the campground office building, is it the fault of the campground or the MH driver? How about a tree branch? :B

If the upkeep of a park is substandard, vote with your wallet by going somewhere else.

Lots of state parks were built before the bigger motorhomes and 5th wheels were common. The trees have grown wider and the motorhomes are wider and taller. Less room to turn the corner or drive down the road. Park employees drive a truck around and just don't see the height problem or the width problem. Often want to take an employee on a drive around their park and point out the problems... But, if we don't say something, nothing will get done. If it is a private park and nothing happens, post that on RV Park Reviews. If it is a state park, let the state park manager know and also the state park office. Unless the head guy knows, nothing gets done. Sending pictures of damage helps too.

Alright thats it. We all share our camping experience differently. Some people prefer to put on a backpack hike for miles and sleep under the stars. Other people buy motorhomes that cost several hundreds of thousand of dollars (or more) and go to developed RV parks designed for 40+ foot coaches. For example: Oasis RV park in Las Vegas or Campland on the Bay in San Diego. While I do a fair amount of backpacking my motorhome is basically my condo on wheels. We prefer it to Hotels. Most RV parks are great. Taking a tree strike in a $400,000.00 motorhome is really expensive. Taking a scraper down the side of the coach is really expensive. It also puts a small damper on the trip. I respect everyones interpretation of what their camping enjoyment is. Everyone should do the same. There are actually people here saying to let the motorhomes hit the trees? Tree branches come first. I love trees I live in Oregon. Take care of your RV park so you do not damage our property. Campland on the Bay has low trees where you can see where many motorhomes have hit. Many complaints nothing gets done.
