The vent pipe won't let any air out so the burp coming from the toilet lets you know it's full. If you just dump every 4 days or so you will be fine. Why worry about the stupid gauges so much. I agree. My guages quit about 15 years ago and I haven't missed them. I dump prior to leaving a park or when I look down the toilet and see it is getting full.
