I have had the same thing happen to me. Yes you can rather easily replace the inner door material. There is little to nothing holding it there. It probably will be glued in a couple of spots. It generally is laid up against a foam filler in the door. I put some extra bracing in mine to make it a better more secure door. I also tore out all the standard Styrofoam filler and put in contractor grade. This really made a great door out of the junk they put on. I put treated wood in place of the soft scraps they used to frame the door. In short it is not hard to do and you will be glad you did. One more thing be sure you drill weep holes in the bottom.
