Vornado Heater Recall

Check your RV heaters. Certainly not something you want to happen to a heater in an RV.

""We're voluntarily recalling Vornado VH110 heaters built in 2013 and sold from June 2013 to May 2014 due to a safety issue. Vornado has received 29 reports of units overheating and melting, including seven reports of heaters catching fire, resulting in one report of smoke inhalation and one report of property damage caused by soot and smoke.""

After reading those reasons for the recall I don't think I'd buy one of these irregardless if the recall was only a specific year made!!

so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

This is not the first electric heater recalled. One of the Holmes oil filled heaters was recalled at the end of January.

I go to the CPSC website on a frequent basis to see recalls. There are quite a few that should be of interest to RV'ers. Not just heaters, but bicycles, small tools, battery chargers, etc.

I purchased two Vornado heaters for my elderly parents. They work great, as reviewers had posted. One of them was the recalled model and I was very impressed with how easy the process was to have the heater replaced. I would buy another one if needed.

Vornadoes used to be good, when they were US made. Now they are made overseas (the picture on the recall site shows Chinese made). I'm happy I have a few of the last US models, which work remarkably.
