Water softening system

Anyone have any recommendations for a water softening system?

The park we spend the summer in has very hard water and my wife has requested that I take care of the problem.

All suggestions are appreciated.

Flow Pur. Had it for a number of years. The DW hates hard water. One of the few things we miss when on the road is the soft water of home which is completely untreated.

No chlorine. NOTHING. Rain falls from the clouds onto the house roof where it is channeled into a 30,000 gal water tank under our house. From there the house has its own water pressure system of pump & pressure tank. Can't get any purer or softer than rain.

If only we had a a direct link of thousands of miles to our own home tank.

I purchased the double on the go water softener. It is easy to hook up and a cinch to regenerate. I did not give softeners much thought until my wife told me while we were in P. Forge two years ago her hair was getting dry and brittle. It has really made a difference not only in showering but in washing dishes and in our washer. I am sure some water we hook up to while travelling is very hard. I had not thought about it before. Good investment.

depends somewhat on your water useage. if it is high and very hard water I'd go with one of the larger RV type softeners.

If water useage isn't real high the larger "waterstick" softener is an option. it is much smaller (hence softens less water) and less expensive. That is what we and my brother have. Works fine for us, but again if use is high and water hard a larger system is probably in order.

The waterstick is good for 150 gallons at 10 grains (pretty hard water), 3 grains roughly 600 gallons, 15 grains (very hard water) 100 gallons.

The larger more traditional design softeners sold in RV stores are double or triple the capacity.

In any event, it's worth it. less scum, less buildup, easier to wash and clean. If the water is very hard it won't eliminate ALL the scum and scale.

Both use resin beads and salt as water softeners do, the waterstick is easy and quick to do a regen on.

you will find that most of the smaller systems including the waterstick regenerate with table salt rather than the large pellets used in home systems. Which makes it easy to regen on the go.
