The cooler(s) always go in the truck at night as we tend to camp where there are black bears and I want my food and beer to stay with me. We tend to keep the site picked up too. We've never had a problem in 20 yrs of camping starting with tents up to a large 5er.
Didn't know that bears like beers :B As previously mentioned coolers can grow legs had mine stolen at a beach once, to bad for them there wasn't any beer left it was all drunk, just melted ice, and empty cans lol
