Where's Waldo?

A couple of weeks ago, there was a spirited thread about the speed trap in Waldo, FL. There was pro and con about the tactics and mission of the Waldo Police Dept.

Well, it looks like we won't have Waldo to kick around anymore. 🙂

With a population of just 1,000, I expect the Alachua County Sheriff's Office will be able to handle the added load of protecting the citizens of Waldo along with the other 250,000 county residents.

I go through Waldo occasionally. I have never had a problem and have not gotten a speeding ticket. Sad that the town gave citations to fund their police department and other town government agencies. The local people are the ones that may suffer due to no longer having a police department. I wish them well.

It's a real shame that the residents of Waldo are going to lose police protection because of the greed and misguidance of the officials who thought the speed traps and ticket quotas were a good idea. There's millions of small towns across the USA that are perfectly safe without taking these measures. Now, instead of keeping the residents of Waldo "safe" from someone "speeding" through at 26 in a 25 zone, they'll have no protection at all.
