I think this is our last camping on Easter wknd or most any holiday. I'm sure this has been discussed often but I will never understand why ppl think everyone else likes their music. And please tell me why we have to open the car doors & turn it up full blast. Geez, never heard of a portable radio?

Our experience is just the opposite. We find that the noise makers are more often found in the State Parks, at least on the weekends. We try to avoid State Parks on the weekends if we can.

I think that's what mgirardo meant by "public campgrounds" - campgrounds run/owned by the local, state or federal government.

Here in Northern California, there is usually more partying at large reservoir campgrounds. Campgrounds by small lakes, rivers and creeks are usually quieter.

Probably right you are!

I expect that the adult spoiled brat mind is pretty much closed off to change - barring some strong occurrence that often never comes.

I like to play music, but ask people around me if it is okay Then I play low key western music with trad instruments. Most people actually like it and want to hear more. I turn off all music usually by 1900. Mostly just for the cocktail hour and maybe dinner.

Yes, but following the flow of a discussion is somewhat like canoeing on an unfamiliar river, your follow the many twists and turns or you decide to "get out".

Your choice.

I hold a different view on this: Maybe Japanese culture enjoys adult freedom ... while in the U.S. an increasing number intepret freedom as meaning they can behave like a spoiled brat. :h

Again, I think there is a difference between "deference" and "courtesy". In many Asian cultures, one is expected to DEFER to the elderly and to the male. That is different than being courteous to them. The former can, and often is, subjugation of the young and the female. However, I suspect this is more of a difference to the ones doing the deferring, rather than to the ones receiving the deference.

Because they're weak and foolish and lacking the moxie to confront the elites who hold economic power over them they pound their chests, make monkey gestures and harass those who have no power over them. And then call it freedom.

I think I'm going to demand this thread be shut down because I don't like the posts. No one has the right to annoy me with their posts. When I tried to post a minute ago, another poster got in my way and I had to wait. How dare they! Just because they can type faster. And someone also was posting in CAPS, when I was trying to read, making it very difficult to concentrate. I was afraid to ask them to stop typing in caps out of fear they would report me to the moderator. If this continues, I may have to move to another topic! :B:)
