I do have a story of my own about a neighbor camper that sat by the campfire talking till the wee hours of the morn… I am certain at least a light sleeper would have heard them and there were a lot of people in the area to hear them…
The next morning when I saw the guy he apologized for his transgression to myself and anyone that walked by, even though I never said anything about it, nor do I believe anyone else did…
He explained, his son was to be deployed very soon and his only request was to have one more family campout because it had been years since they had done it… as the kids grew older they had their own lives and the family campout ended…
That weekend was the fulfilling of the sons request…
I am so glad that I nor anyone else said anything to them or complained about their late night fireside chat…
Have I embellished the story a little for effect… I don’t know, it was several years ago, but it is as I remember it and it is a story I will never forget…
Now I would love to hear anyone’s story that tops that… I am sure they exist to…
