Why do your kids keep yelling at our dogs?

After the recent slew of anti dog threads I found this hilarious. While camping his weekend a younger couple pulled into a site one over from us. Every time we went outside with our dogs the little kids opened the window or door and proceeded to yell at our dogs as loud as hey could.

These same kids ran around unattended through others campsites leaving their toys anywhere they pleased.

As usual our dogs just looked at them without a peep. And yes, we cleaned up after our pets. As a matter of fact I'd say the majority of the rv'ers in the campground had dogs. All on leaches and well behaved. We did not hear one dog bark or see one running around. We left the campsite cleaner then when we arrived I can guarantee you that.

Just a different perspective from a dog owner. I managed to enjoy myself.

Is it me or is this thread shrinking? I could have swore the latest Ward Cleaver ( father of the year ) winner from Georgia had posted to this thread earlier.:B

you had me cracking up on this cause it just happened to me, but in a smaller version.

tent campers near totally packed and leaving. I was walking my little dog and the 2 kids were in the car. They starting barking and yelling out the window at my dog. funny as heck BUT the Mom came around from the trunk and told them to shut up ๐Ÿ™‚

I've had kids whistle and bark at our pups when we're walking. There have been some that pedal their bikes near us then turn so they're coming straight at us or will turn so they swing really close to my boxers.

Fortunately, my two are well behaved and don't bark back although I've been known to growl at the little creeps.

I love dogs. It's people I hate. I think I would go over by the parents and ask "Why are your kids yelling at my dogs?" Or in the case of constant barking dogs, why can"t the people do something to make them quite or put them inside. Kids playing and having fun I can tolerate. Yelling for no reason gets a trip to the parents. I guess I'm an old grouch. and I look it. And please, leave the outdoor tv off at night and remember, You are not the only one in the campground. All have rights and you my not like your neighbors rights.

I enjoy the sound of kids playing, the smell of campfires. It can all be ruined by a couple of idiots, who, as I have seen usually have been drinking most of the day. At the CG we've been volunteering at for 8 years. I have seen a big change in the campers. More and more families (with kids) are returning to or just starting camping. It's fun to watch the first timers getting everything setup, but when it looks like they are really stumped, One of the veteran camper will walk buy and say hi, and start a conversation, and offer a word of advise or a helping hand. We've made a few new good friends that way. Their are a few that that just don't want any help, and that's OK, they'll figure it out, or will came and ask later.
I grew up camping, Scouts and family in tents, then travel trailers. Saw 46 of the fifty states and across both borders whale still with Mom and Dad, 3 sister and a brother. Now our Son and his family and our Daughter love to camp.

I think anytime a family finds something they enjoy doing together, it just brings closer together. With the economy being what it is these days, most can't afford to take the big expensive vacations they used to, so they start camping.

When you think about it, that statement says it all. I've always found that pet ownership teaches responsibility and apperently that lesson was never taught here.

What we need is for the camp grounds to have different sections:
One with no dogs allowed. Another with no kids allowed, another with no loud music allowed, and another with no camp fires allowed and one other one with none of the above allowed.

I would pick the last one and be a happy camper

I guess ALL kids in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's were ALL raised so much better than we that are parenting today did.

There were slobs then, there were bad parents then, there were sad cases about families back then, just like it is now. .

If RV.net is around in 30 years those kids you see running around at a campground now may be posting here asking where are all the parents like we had back when I was a kid. SMH

I do have a story of my own about a neighbor camper that sat by the campfire talking till the wee hours of the mornโ€ฆ I am certain at least a light sleeper would have heard them and there were a lot of people in the area to hear themโ€ฆ

The next morning when I saw the guy he apologized for his transgression to myself and anyone that walked by, even though I never said anything about it, nor do I believe anyone else didโ€ฆ

He explained, his son was to be deployed very soon and his only request was to have one more family campout because it had been years since they had done itโ€ฆ as the kids grew older they had their own lives and the family campout endedโ€ฆ

That weekend was the fulfilling of the sons requestโ€ฆ
I am so glad that I nor anyone else said anything to them or complained about their late night fireside chatโ€ฆ

Have I embellished the story a little for effectโ€ฆ I donโ€™t know, it was several years ago, but it is as I remember it and it is a story I will never forgetโ€ฆ

Now I would love to hear anyoneโ€™s story that tops thatโ€ฆ I am sure they exist toโ€ฆ

I have never seen any of these issues with kids at any park we have visited. We dont camp at private campgrounds only state parks and COE so maybe thats they dont frequent this type of place. I have seen drunk obnoxious adults and tons of barking annoying dogs though. Guess it depends on where you go.

We were all raised better than others and we all did a better job of raising our kids then othersโ€ฆ
Our kids are all quiet and respectful and would not be capable of doing wrongโ€ฆ

Where the heck are all the bad kids I hear about coming from???

I wonder why different kids raised in the same home and environment have completely different personalitiesโ€ฆ

In every one of these types of threads I read of more problems than I have seen in a lifetime of camping 18 of them full timeโ€ฆ

This thread and all of these types of threads are only designed to incite and they will always achieve their goalโ€ฆ with stories of hearsay and imagination and most a little bit embellished for effectโ€ฆ
Itโ€™s like sitting at the coffee shop counter and tell a story and you will have hours of entertainment with each following story topping the previous oneโ€ฆ just pick any topicโ€ฆ

Yes there are bad kids and bad adults and many of them come from the best families (just not yours) and the best neighborhoods (just not yours)โ€ฆ

Misbehaving has become more common with the false belief that everyone is a victim and everyone has their guaranteed rightsโ€ฆ they seem to forget you have no RIGHTS without the RESPONSIBILITIES they carryโ€ฆ how many times do you hear people say itโ€™s my right to do, how often to you hear them declaring they have the responsibilities to doโ€ฆ.

How often do you hear in post, other campers need to be more respectful???

How often have you read post declaring, I need to be more tolerant of my fellow campers???

Hint you will only need one hand to count for the last questionโ€ฆ

I am out of popcornโ€ฆ soโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ™‚

Because kids today were not brought up the way kids used to be and pretty much do whatever they want.....I was raised old school and was taught manners and respect....my son has been the raised the same way I was.....he's 17 now and I'm proud of the way he is and compliments I receive about him :B

DITTO . . . My son was raised by me the same way and proud of it. Not like the little piss ants these days that have no respect or manners. Couldn't have said it better.

KIDs!

I always get a kick out of kids...
Kind of weird how kids can run and scream and yell...then if I say "hi how are you doing today" they quiet down and just look at me.

Actually have been able to train some kids at campsites to help us gather wood, help walk dawgs and other chores...they love it.

What happened to the old โ€œadageโ€ kids should be seen and NOT heard?

When I was raised, I too was taught to respect others and not to be loud or disruptive in front of elders. If the parents have no common courtesy entitlements, than the children will have little chance to have any kind of sensible manners in a public setting. Help us all.

Can I ask what they were yelling? Just curious... It is hard for me to understand that sort of behavior and the parents that will allow it to be repeated.
