I am sure that every one is aware of the DANGER of cleaning your grill with a wire brush, and the wires coming loose from the brush and left on the grill. I was cleaning my Baby Q grill Friday last, and as it was really in a mess I used an old wire brush, well as you can imagine, a multitude of wires were dislodged from the brush and left on the grill. That reminded me of a program on TV which was about, you guessed it, a wire brush from the grill stuck to a peace of meat, a person ate same, and best I remember almost died. Well I went over the grill with a magnifier and made sure I had removed ALL the wires. Anyway I thought I would post this as a reminder to all of us of this DANGER.Best not to use a wire brush to clean the grill, and if you do, get ALL the loose wires.Johnnie

Or get a good quality wire brush. I got mine at a welding supply store and the bristles DO NOT come off. Been using it for about 10 years now and it still works well.

I bring my grill up to about 600F. Then just brush it with a BBQ brush. Once or twice a year spray Simple Green on comlete grill, let it soak, then hose it off.

If you buy a purpose made BBQ brush with brass bristles, this pretty much becomes a non issue. I've been using the same grill brush for many years and there are never any bristles on the grill. Occasionally, I wipe the grill with a towel saturated with olive oil. That would also remove any foreign matter on the grill.

OP; Where did you get your brush?

Use crumpled tin/aluminum foil to clean grill grates, no chance of wires and it works very well. Take it apart once a season give it a good old fashioned cleaning.

While the grill is still HOT use a Grill Scrub Pad. Just dunk the scrub pad in cold water and then scrub the grill grate running it in the direction of the grate bars. You will be amazed at how clean it gets and the pad won't scratch the grilling surface. Tim

If the grill is clean, what are the bristles sticking to???

I never clean mine, by the time the charcoal is ready the grill is sterile.

I agree. When the chances of an occurrence are 2 in 3 million, it really isn't worth worrying about!
I will continue to use my grill brush.

So what guarantees that the new brush won't be defective and leave wires on the grill? Some things you can control and some things you can't, and some things just are so unlikely to happen that you simply can't worry about all of them.

I'm just not going to worry about all the myriad of things that could happen while you're just going through life. There are just too many, and the actual risks are varied enough. It's called being realistic. Just sayin'. :)

Like anything else all it takes is 'one' time. What if that one time was your family member?

For me...if something as simple as throwing out a cheap worn down grill brush and replacing it more often to avoid someone getting hurt?
