Wire kit fir tow

I used the Roadmaster wiring kit with inline diodes, it just installs using your own car lights and has worked well for the last 15 years until I gave the car away.

I recommend one of these Curt wiring harnesses. They have the diodes built in. For my application it was plug and play, but it looks like you would splice in the kit for your truck. Still much easier and fool proof than anything else on the market. This looks like the one you need, but verify make, model, etc.

Regarding transmissions, we can only wish GM still offered trucks with a stick shift in 2011...

If an auto trans, it must be a 4 x 4 to tow four down.

The steering wheel does lock so I put a quick disconnect on the battery. It's a 4x4 truck so I put the transfer case in Neutral

I simply use the standard trailer wire harness from NAPA and just clamp the extra lights to the bumper/tailgate.

no electrical modification needed. It's a 4 pole harness.
things to consider, does the steering wheel lock ? if not no worries If it does, unlock it and disconnect the battery.

next question, is the truck an automatic or stick? some auto transmissions can't be spun for a long time with out lubrication.
