Wobbly Dinette Table

My brother has the basic 4 person dinette table that folds into a bed. His table seems fairly stable. My parents have a u shaped dinette that folds into a larger bed but their table seems too wobbly. Just a slight touch or lean on an edge of the table could possibly topple a drink.

Each table has two gray legs that sit inside a black plastic holder under the table and on the floor. Here's what the bracket looks like.

Is there any way to make the table a little more stable without sacrificing the ability to convert the table into a bed?

The day after I picked up my Northstar Laredo a substantial portion of a perfectly good cup of coffee found its way to the upholstery from a minor bump to the table. While it cleaned up without a trace, it was going to be a problem. First I replaced the plastic sockets with metal ones which was only a partial solution and then I remembered a solution that I had seen in older TC's.

A simple brace hinged to the table support rail - rock solid. I doesn't interfere with converting to bed mode and the hinge is stiff enough to not interfere with accessing the wheel well storage door below. I also added a 6" removable drop leaf to the table.

Great Mod. I will keep this in mind if our table gets wobbly.

Wrap a piece of paper around the leg before pressing down.
Worked for us.

I, too, used the "Whomp" method, but I used a rubber mallet with a big head. But I fear I'm going to have to find a different method. The space between the table edge and my belly is shrinking. I think its the same elves that are making the shower smaller. ๐Ÿ™‚

Womp on it realy hard to seat the post.
Both fists hard on the table top directly over the post.
Good for a long while.

About once a season, I have to kneel on ours in the middle over the legs and bounce up and down a few times (trying not to hurt my knees as I do it).
That makes it good and tight for another year.

Once it is tight, make sure no one leans on one side or the other, or it will loosen up again

Set up the table and while pushing down, wiggle the table so the legs will seat properly in the cups.

Those cups are usually cast aluminum or cast zinc.

You may be able to have a welding shop install some sort of locking screw on the side of the bracket, so that it could be tightened.

Another probably a lot simpler idea would be to get some toothpicks or wooden shims, and try and wedge them between the table leg and the bracket.

But, you also need to check to see if the reason it's wobbly, is the bracket to table leg, or the bracket to floor connection?? It may just be that the screws holding the bracket to the floor have come loose!!
You may want to get some oversized screws and re-fasten it:)
