Would $7 per gal effect your RV lifestyle?

Recently experts have predicted that gas prices could soon reach $7 per gallon. Depending where you go in northern CA, prices have been north of $5 for at least a couple of months. I just filled my Duramax for $150 and it wasn't even full!
If prices soar to these levels, how will it effect your RV travels? For me, it's hard to find places to get reservations anyway so my travels are less but high fuel costs will definitely effect my travels. I'll try to cut expenses elsewhere so we can still go out as often as possible. We have a trip to Yellowstone planned later this year but I won't give up that trip even if it costs a few hundred more in fuel.
What say you?

I happened to notice one of the local dealers has an "inside sale" going on. They do not list a single class C, or other self propelled RV. I find that quite odd.

They do have a couple of 5th wheels that are listed above $150,000.00. (cdn dollars)

Another aspect to consider is how much is everything else going to rise in price? Businesses aren't going to absorb the extra cost. While the extra cost in fuel by itself might not be an issue it's impact on other aspects may.

Everybody claims the cost of fuel will not change their travel plans. I wonder how many of the same people whine about the store clerk getting a pay raise causes prices to go up? Do you look at corporations raising prices at the same time as they have record profits, call it inflation?
Fuel price increase means the transportation puts a Fuel Sur Charge on everything that moves. That FSC is a tax on everything, but goes to oil companies with no chance to help population.
I saw another thread today discussing sacrifice made to take 1 island in the last world war. Nobody mentions the fact that everybody in that generation made sacrifices to stop authoritarianism.

Yikes! time2roll, looks like it's a comin!

It is going to affect my RVing this summer pretty quick. I never really wanted to hang on to that dang toyhauler that long, so it may be four sail here tomorrow, before more RVers decide to liquidate!

Yeah, I think $7 per gallon would affect our RVing lifestyle. It would probably make it better!

How? Maybe, if gas gets that expensive, the zillions of folks that bought RVs in last few years cause of COVID that are tying up all the camping spots will get out of RVing. Then, the rest of us will be able to get out camping more without having to book out sites a year in advance, hahaha! ๐Ÿ™‚

Actually, if gas gets that expensive, RVing plans changing or not changing would be the least of my worries. I'd be much more concerned about how gas prices that high would impact the prices of everything else we all buy and take for granted (groceries, etc.)

At the last gas crisis a few years back I paid 6 dollars a gallon for diesel at one place in Maritime Canada.
So what were my choices?
Fillerup, moan a bit, and head on down the road. (gotta say, that $400 fill was eye-watering!)

I'm used to paying $4.50 per us gallon. I do try to plan my trips so that I have no back tracking.

When servicing pianos I tend to go in large loops. I've been known to swap tuning for fuel, when working at a farm.

If it went to $7 I might fly rather than travel 4800 miles round trip.

If I want to go I have to pay--and I want to go at about 9mpg diesel. Its $4.00 a gal right now here in central NC and gas was $3.15 yesterday. Its when I get away from here it goes up.

Wonโ€™t affect me. We stay close to home for the holiday weekends. And then 1 or 2 long trips a year. Iโ€™ll feel it, but still do it. I just hope they raise the cutoff to $200! Ide hate to restart the pump 3 or 4 times!

Our RV trips tend to be to relatively close destinations (less than 100 miles, one-way), and usually involve staying there for several days.

Fuel economy while towing our 17 footer is also pretty good (around 15 MPG).

So, the cost of the fuel burned to get there and back is a pretty small fraction of the total cost of the trip.

Even if the fuel cost doubled, it would still be just a small chunk of the trip budget - certainly not enough to alter our travel habits.
