Any suggestions on campgrounds near Colorado Springs? We'll be in the area mid Sept to visit my sister in the NE area of town. Doesn't appear to be anything there except mobile home parks.
We stayed at Cheyenne Mountain State park last summer and loved it very nice new park. Very close drive to everything in the Colorado Springs area. We drove to garden of the gods, pikes peak, royal gorge, cave of the winds and Red rock canyon not a far drive to any of these attractions.
We stayed at Fountain Creek RV Park three years ago. It's tight, noisy, and not a particularly attractive park, but the location is primo. You can walk to Old Colorado Springs and plenty of restaurants and shopping. It's a short drive to Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, the Pikes Peak railway and other attractions. I wouldn't want to stay a long time there, but it's good for a week.

If you don't mind being up the hill I would recommend Diamond RV in Woodland Park. It is about 18 miles from I-25 and a very pretty campground that is much more reasonably priced than Garden of the Gods. Also around 10 degrees cooler so factor that in.
We stayed at Garden of The Gods rv resort in Colorado Springs and really liked it. We were just there right before July 4th. The camp sites, I believe listed as premium pull through, are the hot ticket and only ~$5 more per night. Right near the pool which is heated and a nice large hot tub. Safeway is ~3 blocks away and you are very close to the interstate. No noise at night. This would be my first choice going back.
