In the campsite next to us is a young family with a small child. I do believe that from the time the child wakes up in the morning till the family leaves for their daily sightseeing/outing, he cries.
And....He is crying when they arrive home in the evening. He then cries off and of till we go to bed around 10:30. It's not enjoyable to sit around the camp fire in the evening. I have thought about seeing the Host and seeing if the crying is imposing of the 10 pm quite time.
Rant over....But there is nothing more annoying than listing to a child cry all the time.

Update....
It appears that I was not the only camper annoyed by the crying child. When we got home Sat. from our outing, The family was gone. In talking with the couple on the other side of them, it appears that someone did complain to the Camp Host and the family was asked to leave. There are lots of tenters here so going inside, closing doors and windows was not an option for them.

Sorry the family had to leave, but surely the child was a nuisance.

I can not believe this thread! Are you all crazy and ignorant! Are you not aware of the latest Grizzly repellent from ACME Co.? The OP is in Glacier and obviously his neighbors brought along the brand new Bear Scare 1000 with constant acoustic deterrence. They are on sale at Walmart for 19.98. 🙂

OP I get your rant and feel for you. Too bad for that family and the baby. Hopefully they can return in the future when the child is less fussy.

Camping Not too many weeks ago family across the road from us had an autistic or mentally challenged boy about 7. I thought I would go NUTS from the constant (& I DO mean from about 7a to 9p) gutteral UHN-UHN-UHN this boy vocalized loudly. I mean--it was loud and disturbing. I could hardly enjoy sitting outside.

Then I realized "hey, I only have to listen to this while I'm here. That poor family has to listen to this ALL.THE.TIME 24/7/365." After realizing THAT, I enjoyed my last 2 days so much better.

In all seriousness if I was on vacation with my kids when they were babies and they were crying all the time I would find out why. If it was an ear infection etc I would end the vacation and try again another time.

Nailed it!

20 years ago, I was the young mom in a similar situation. Thankfully, we were smart enough to do a trial camping trip 3 miles from home as I knew I had a potential crier on my hands, and also a toddler who had a fascination with campfires.

Shortly after quiet time, we were the only family not quiet, and I was more than relieved to be able grab the carkeys and the baby and head for home so he could feel secure in his own bed.

Reminds me of a story... and it goes like this. A friend of mine was a captain for Northwest. He was taxiing a DC10 out to the runway when a stewardess entered the cockpit and stated that there was an unruly male passenger complaining about a crying baby next to him. He demanded that he be moved. The plane was full. My buddy literally stopped the plane on the taxiway (pre 911 of course) walked back to the passenger and barked “Babies cry! That’s what they do. This baby will probably cry the whole trip. This plane is full and there are no other seats to move you too. Now I will turn this plane around and back to the terminal where you will be escorted off. Or you can sit quietly without another word!” He never said another word. Moral of the story : babies cry.

When we encounter the little loud ones (just did a couple of weeks ago. 4:30 am!) we smile, put on the headphones, close the door or leave ourselves if we really can’t take it. Doesn’t happen often. And we tent camped for many years.

Also agree with go dogs. Could have been an ear infection. My son had one on a trip and he was brutal. We wound up takin’ the poor kid to the ER and they had to drain his ear. He was like a new kid after.

Kids are tough. We all try our best.

I am in Glacier NP and I had to reserve this site 6 months ago. I am here because I wanted to be here. The MH has wheels but all sites are reserved and no place to move to.

Glacier NP has only 3 of it's 13 campgrounds that take reservations. All the others are first come, first serve. As of this very moment, there are 5 campgrounds that have available spots.

I think that where the O.P. went wrong is with the threadtitle.
If it were titled "Take Your Nonstop Crying Baby Home", I doubt many would have objected.

But to post a thread titled LEAVE THE KIDS HOME is bound to get folks riled up.

I think I would take 7 days of loud kids, barking dogs, then even 24 hours of someone complaining and demanding all kids get off the state parks lawn!!!

You sure are paranoid. I would avoid parks that do not enforce rules, like the plague. What I thought you were being funny about was saying that a park would TELL me they let people raise h.... and be rude and offensive.

It will be easy to avoid my parks, just ask before you make a reservation if the park allows barking dogs and loud parties. If the answer is "no", It could be one of mine, so only book the ones that say "yes".

You really are joking aren't you? Good sense of humor is always nice to see on here. I would be beyond amazed if someone asked that question while making a reservation that they would actually get a yes.
Nope, not joking at all. Apparently you and a couple of other posters think a park that has and enforces rules against that behavior is a park to be avoided, so to avoid parks like that you should find out in advance if they have those rules.

I think someone on this forum 'imagines' that they own Western RV parks!
Yeah, just ask if there will be any other people in the park when you make your reservation!

Nice to know that whatever your neighbors do is OK with you. That isn't the case with most people. They don't want their vacation to be 7 days of loud, drunken parties, or 7 days of barking dogs, and yes, they don't want 7 days of screaming and crying children. None of those are tolerated at my parks, even if they are tolerated by you.

I mostly stay in parks that allow young children, dogs, and alcohol. I reserve spots under the assumption that I may encounter one or all of the previous mentioned risks on any level. My family has only been RV'ing for 10 years, but I have experienced ALL of these situations at all levels. I have been able to overlook each one and just enjoy the fact that I wasn't at work, mowing my lawn, weeding, cleaning gutters, painting, cleaning bathrooms, pressure washing, etc... Maybe the OP forgot what that means to most non-full timers. Get over it!
Wish I could hear from the alleged "ousted" young family and hear their side of the story. I guess I don't feel as 'entitled' as most.
Please post all of your campgrounds that you run and I will make it a point to avoid them.Sure would make running a park a whole lot easier if every time we got a complaint about barking dogs, or a loud neighbor we could just tell them "To Bad, So Sad" but instead we do the right thing and make the park enjoyable for the vast majority of the guests and do not let an individual trump the rights of the other guests. It will be easy to avoid my parks, just ask before you make a reservation if the park allows barking dogs and loud parties. If the answer is "no", It could be one of mine, so only book the ones that say "yes".
