River side camping in CA

We're looking for someplace in California where we can camp along a river that we can swim, tube and raft in. The warmer the water the better! We'd also like to hear of places that not only have full hook-up RV spaces but places that also have rental units like mini cabins, etc. within them in case our non-RV friends wanted to join us. We've stayed on the Russian and Sacramento Rivers and enjoyed them both. Anybody want to share their favorite spots?

  • Have you seen pictures of Northern or Southern CA water spots this year? The largest and most used lake in Northern CA is Shasta. Normally a great place, it is now almost empty. Probably most of CA is like that, making camping and water sports extinct this summer. I hope not.
  • You can try Ponderosa in Lotus, Ca. The South Fork of the American River goes through the vs campground.
  • All I can suggest is stay out of Southern CA.. I would think Central or Northern California is your better bet if not Oregon itself....
