Not going anywhere til November if then.
This morning sitting on the west porch, on the phone, I saw a coyote cross the road right at the little Civil War cemetery across the driveway. Looked rather large to me from that range but it was a coyote for sure. Going to have to get someone to clear up the growth there. Might discourage them from hanging around. Already been near the rear porch, more than once. Next time they might be on it, or already have.
A bunch of hawks this morning. One on the ridge, screamed it's heart out for ten minutes it seemed. Saw several shadow fly through the cove. The two I saw in the oak were not that pretty. They appeared to be mottled orange, gray, off white etc. May be youngns.
Saw the same flock of 6 turkeys yesterday and day before in front yard. First day they spent a lot of time catching grasshoppers. yesterday they were picking them up here and there but stayed on the move, up the hill and besides the house and into the woods.
Deer have been feeding at night across the little creek. Saw lots of droppings when I mowed yesterday. Still go a half acre to go.
Dakota spent a lot of time outside with me today. The cat wouldn't leave him alone. Every opportunity the cat would rub on his chin and chest. He didn't like it one bit and finally kept nudging me to let him go inside. Garfield was having all kind of fun pestering him though. When Dakota would move away Garfield was right with him swatting, trying to get him to play. Got a bit of a chuckle at Dakota's expense.
Oh the Owls. There was a big whoop whoop whoop we do and I swear a half dozen answered him. Ladies must be looking for him.
That was this afternoon. After dark the only sounds have been the bugs hollering.
Think I'll turn in a little early.
Good night and sweet dreams
