Hello four legged fur lovers :). Not long ago I lost my four legged friend his name, was Greystoke. He was twenty two when he died. Now, I'm not going to side one way or another about this food problem we have in losing our pets to being poisoned from another country or for that matter our own food pet suppliers.
Now , I'm not an expert on nutrition for dogs however, all in the canine family are scavengers, they are carnivorous, they eat raw meat. they have a digestive system to handle that meat. Sadly over the years we are led to believe that dogs require a balanced diet in advancing that premise, Big cereal co. get on the band wagon and give the propaganda how good and beneficial their dog food is. well, if people want to hear and believe that propaganda so be it . Of course, I'm not an expert and it is only my opinion. But my first dog I had he was eating meat raw NOT COOKED. He also ate raw chicken NOT COOKED. He and I were together over 14 years and he died in his sleep, a natural death. As I mentioned I lost "Greystoke" in February, His food was meat, basically the same as my first dog when I was young, My Grandparents dog died after 15 yrs and he was fed meat NOT COOKED. Now as I mentioned, It's only my opinion-but all the dogs in our family ate meat and did fine .Vets check up very rare, as most vets were farm vets taking of the cattle ,horses, dogs and cats ,not so much, But today we have an industry that is marketed and designed towards our pets (dogs) and the spin-offs well, you get the idea. ( cats also ) Now the best person to ask ,is your Vet, ask them direct questions. My Vet has no vested interest in companies that profit from Pet products and my Vet took excellent care of my Greystoke. By the way, Greystoke loved fresh fish :) Its just my opinion and observation, but dogs and cats are not vegetarians. Another observation, dogs and cats have to EXERCISE. Well as I said, its only my opinion. :) hope all is well with you all :).
