I lost another Grand-dog

Spot was a huge beast - a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Standard Poodle. Never met a person he didn't immediately love....LOL! Watched his humans marry, and was gentle with the children who came into his world.

Spot and the first baby:

Poor dog never photographed well, being black....

Was the dog who fell through the ice that I rescued... while falling in myself...brrrrrrrr.

But my daughter always worried that Spot was going to inherit the short-lived BMD traits....so when Spot started to lose weight, she took him to the Vet. And discovered the sweet boy had a chest filled with cancer 😞 In spite of that, he was cheerful and friendly; but they chose to have his life end on a happy note instead of waiting for him to decline.

I'm going to miss the big lunk.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our three legged Lab/Chessie last Thursday to a probable bone cancer. He was only five and had so much more living to do, but we couldn't put him through any more. RIP, Murohy.

I'm sorry for your loss. Furkids are part of the family (or should be) and losing one is heartbreaking.

So sorry, Deb, and for you daughter and her family too. Losing them is the worst part of having them.

Very handsome boy. So sorry for you and your family's loss.

We just (last month) lost our Rottie to bone cancer, also a high rate in that breed. Just one day shy of his 7th birthday. Damn cancer.
