Aww, I can imagine all the memories that must have brought back, but then again, you still have them in your heart. You are so brave to take such a huge step in your life. I'll bet when you "report back" from Ecuador, some of us will envy you. I hope the house sells soon and everything goes smoothly so you can make a easy transition. It's great that there are others to guide you in the process.

I just thought of sometun! Are you gonna have an internet connection where you're gonna be at? Or are you gonna have to install a few wires up a tall tree or the like so you can up date us on how things are going?

Thanks...on my desk top I have Google chrome and it automatically translates the pages but for some reason it doesn't work on my laptop so I just paste and copy to Google translate..just takes a bit longer LOL

Spanish. I have a deaf ear for languages...can hardly manage english LOL but Wayne is taking lessons...I'm getting so I can read Spanish a bit..I will use a oral translater App on my phone LOL

Translation...we have been advised to wait for all translations to be done in EC...just get all the documents notorized here at the consulute office .

Friends...don't know a soul in EC..but am in touch with expat groups and most members are very helpful with planning for the move, getting a rental property etc...we will rent a home for awhile until we get the feel of the land and decide where we will want to set down roots..we do not plan on having a car so public transportation, cabs etc will be important..also we need to be near a good health care facility as we are getting to the age when things start to break down ( smile ) And of course we need a good DVM.

Do you have friends in Ecuador? Speak fluent Spanish? LOL We have friends who moved to Costa Rica some ten years or so ago. They love it and their modest retirement income let them build a new house and employ a maid and gardeners. I think there are a lot of Americans there now.

Study up on your spanish, it'll make life easier...

My folks took early retirement and the first six years of that they spent in Costa Rica. They loved it for the most part. Came back when grandkids started appearing on the scene....
