1996 Chevy Silverado Middle Arm Rest?????

Question

I have a 1996 Chevy Silverado with a Middle Arm Rest that my wife raised up,and I have been trying to get it back in the DOWN position for two weeks!  It doesn't say anything about it in the owners manual and I have been doing everything but breaking it trying to get it in the down position.  I cannot comprehend how something that just goes up and down can be so complicated!  It does not appear to have any buttons to push to accomplish this.  I am hoping that some one knows how to do this!  Thanks for any and all help.  Gary

Try lifting it all the way up then immediately down; some armrests work that way. Good luck

There is a release at the drivers side hinge. See owners manual.

Thank you Guidry and Bucky.  My son finally was able to get it down by taking off a piece of plastic that covered the hinges and tapping on the hinges with a hammer very lightly.  The arm rest that is shown in the owners manual is not the same one that I have so that part did not help.  Thank you all.  Now just so my wife doesn't lift it up again!
