1. terminology, it is a power converter (makes 12v from 120v) not an inverter (makes 120 from 12)
2. converters don't beep but the LP alarm will on low 12v voltage
3. You did something when connecting the battery back up so now your converter does not make 12v and the battery 12v can't reach the 12 DC panel.
4. Most likely the 12v fuse (or DC circuit breaker) between battery and DC panel (close to battery on pos wire) is blown and also somehow at the same time you blew the reverse polarity fuses on the converter itself (often two 30a fuses), so it cannot power the DC panel either.
So, to trouble-shoot, disconnect battery again. Check the 30amp fuses in the converter/DC dist panel. Replace both even if only one is blown. Now you should have 12v from converter with no battery.
Now unplug shore power so you don't blow the converter fuses again, and try to wire the battery right this time and fix that battery fuse or circuit breaker until you have 12v ok from battery to DC fuse panel.
Now it is safe to plug in shore power again without blowing the converter fuses again.
