You can't build more nukes to avail the transmission issues.

You can't bury the transmission lines to alleviate a lack of generation needs.

So, if you are losing an argument, say that the argument is wrong? Again, attack, deflect, change the subject.

If it was a reliable grid, there would be no "safety shutoffs."
So if you do not understand what is being discussed... just interject something related but not really part of the issue.

It's all "related", therefore all "part of the issue." It is not as simple as you seem to think. You can't just isolate out the part that YOU want to concentrate on, and ignore the rest.

3 Tons,

The incredible, ridiculous and insane amount of debt has many unintended consequences; including hamstringing the next generation of leaders (our children) to just one single task: paying the debt's interest. There won't be any extra funds to implement their great ideas--cuz it was used to implement "our" grand ideas.

Will they cancel the debt? Why not, their argument is clear, "we didn't do it, so why should we pay for someone else's foolish folly?".

Remember, this next generation is all about being "woke", and "woke" they will be.

I agree Sir, I believe that some of my positions fall in the round receptacle of โ€˜ALL Knowingโ€™ wokeness - Sun Tsuโ€™s genius was to understand how to achieve victory without the danger of bloodshedโ€ฆ Our younger generation(s) often tend to exploit their inheritance (unrealized without sacrifice or awarenessโ€ฆ) without a sufficient world view, these are the social warriors that have cogitated MMT (modern monetary theory) etc, yet are devoid of the Socratic Method (e.g. Critical Thinking skills)โ€ฆ

3 tons - self reliant, and minus any โ€˜empirical evidenceโ€™ very much against imposing my personal activism of choice (I.e. popularized mandates) upon others - this, in the interest of the fading of personal Freedomโ€ฆJMHOโ€ฆ

The relationship between the "grid" and "forests" is far greater than "PG&E caused fires", it is all about money, as in Carbon Credits.

In Cali, an owner of forest property can earn carbon credits if they preserve and protect their trees. A single credit is equivalent to 1 metric ton of carbon emissions and is worth $27.09*. Is it perfect, no.

*Price https://carboncredits.com/carbon-prices-today/

What happens when there is a forest fire? Poof no trees, no credit. What happens if the trees are logged or thinned? Credit goes bye bye. Hmmmm....

How to game the system. A out of state nonprofit purchased the land in Cali to preserve the forest. Later they presented a plan to heavily log 9,700 acres (which they really never intended to log) and for a promise to not heavily log for the next century, they earned 600,000 carbon credits which they sold for $6 million.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/is-california-s-carbon-offset-program-actually-helping-the...

Then we have this report--

Carbon offsets are widely used by individuals, corporations, and governments to mitigate their greenhouse gas emissions. Because offsets effectively allow pollution to continue, however, they must reflect real climate benefits.

To better understand whether these climate claims hold up in practice, we performed a comprehensive evaluation of California's forest carbon offsets program โ€” the largest such program in existence, worth more than $2 billion. Our analysis of crediting errors demonstrates that a large fraction of the credits in the program do not reflect real climate benefits. The scale of the problem is enormous: 29% of the offsets we analyzed are over-credited, totaling 30 million tCO2e worth approximately $410 million.

The report--https://carbonplan.org/research/forest-offsets-explainer

And an easier to read news article that discusses the report--https://www.technologyreview.com/2021/04/29/1017811/california-climate-policy-carbon-credits-cause-c...

Safety shut off is no different than any other cause of the power being off. Power off is power off.

If you need to charge your EV to flee the wildfires, does it really matter just WHY the power is off? I think not.

If it is 100 degrees outside and you need to cool your home, does it really matter just WHY the power is off? I think not.

I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Power outages for ANY reason are a problem when you have to rely entirely on electricity.
The original comment was about overloading the grid with EVs and the follies of renewable energy. Overloading the grid with EVs would cause rolling blackouts.

If you want to talk about safety shut offs due to poor installation and maintenance of equipment that is a different conversation.

Whatever.

So, if you are losing an argument, say that the argument is wrong? Again, attack, deflect, change the subject.

If it was a reliable grid, there would be no "safety shutoffs."

BTW, the lack of maintenance is due to the California state government mandating (there is that word again) that they spend their funds on "green projects." Now, after not letting PG&E do required maintenance, they are suing them for not doing said maintenance.

Amen brutha!

Now Homey, I wish this philosophy is applied universally.

I can't tell you how many times I've been told my personal freedom does not matter; to shut up, get in line and move along....there's nothing to see here.

Glad you joined Team Personal Freedom.

We can talk about who is a worse, but numbers don't lie. Since January the CPI has increased, things have not gotten better (period)....and I get nearly 6% increase in Social Security (greatest increase in decades).

Perhaps Canada could take the bulk of those folks traveling north so that the pressure on the US electrical grid is reduced. That would be better for the environment because of the clean energy in Canada, and it would reduce the US national debt. Mexico just passes them thru, why doesn't the US?

Focus on energy issues please. Rants about politics is like straight oatmeal sludge -- it gets old quick. Or down here: Pink and green tortillas They Fill You Up Fast...

As far as California banning chain saws, it isn't going to happen. There are thousands of off-grid homesteads. Wood heat.

Grid overload will come from an aggregate over taxation from motor vehicle, dwelling and industrial demand.

BTW I believe the grid will do just fine.

You mean the grid that has been suffering brown-outs and black-outs for decades in the most populous areas? That grid?

Trampy had four years to improve everything and Make America Great,
why didnt he?

Btw did Mexico sent money for the Wall yet ?
