A/C Collingwood issue

The last 2 outings it took some time for cold air to come out of the vents.
The 1st time it happened it was around 30 minutes before I felt cold air.
Last weekend, I turned it on left and returned an hour later to a warm trailer and warm air coming from the vents.

What I did to get it to work was lowered the thermostat all the way. Immediately I heard the compressor kick on.

I left it that way all day (Forgot about it) and the thing froze.

I raised the temp. some and it was fine all weekend.

What do you folks think I should be looking at. Relay maybe?

  • Are there any air filters that may be plugged up. If seen a couple of AC systems freeze up because of inadequate air flow due to very dirty air filters.

  • I would look at possible thermostat problem first. Is it analog or digital? An analog thermostat can develop a bad mercury switch over time which might explain the need to lower it all the way to get it to come on.
