Ac condensation
Anyone know why condensation would be dripping from my ac in my travel trailer onto the floor? Something not sealed good? Neighbor said may be low freon.

- Lol at the 37 screws. Although you are probably right. Took plastic off the other day and peeked. Looked clean. Didn't get into the metal casing. Did notice one drain hole not draining. Will check all the other stuff later when rain stops. Thanks for all the comments!
- A very frequently overlooked issue is the filter in the A/C unit. When they are clogged up, the case pressure of the evaporator gets so low that the water won't drain because the air is being sucked in through the drains.
So, find and clean/replace that filter first. Then go up on the roof and take out the 37 screws and clean inside the unit.
Matt - This has been discussed previously in this forum. One solution may be to tighten up the mounting bolts from within the RV. I don't remember how to do it but search this forum for the answer.
- As said before remove the top cover and give the air conditioner a good cleaning.
Pay particular attention to the drip pan; the weep holes can be cleaned with a pipe cleaner. - Condensation can enter the coach a few different ways.
The drain troughs up top could be clogged with derbies or the roof gasket could be leaking allowing the condensation runoff to enter the coach. - I'd sooner believe something is dirty or the attachment fasteners are loose. Take a look at Chris Bryant's Cleaning Process and you'll see there's a drip pan on the upper unit (roof side) that could have its exit holes plugged. Also, if your coils are dirty, the condensate might not drip where it'll get caught in the pan.
There's a foam gasket between the rooftop part of the A/C and the roof surface itself. It CAN fail over time, but it also compresses which means loose. You can see the bottom end of the four fasteners that keep it together. From the inside with the vent cover removed. Make sure they're SNUG. Don't go cranking them down hard or you can crush your roof structure. - its not freon you got a leak OR a plugged drain line get up there and clean up the unit. take the top off to it gets all kinds of thing blown into it. I,m to old so I hire it done or a good friend does it.
