Air Conditioner changeout

I have a need to replace my Dometic BriskAir 13500 with the same size BriskAir II. Will the new unit fit into the same rooftop hole, and are there any modifications required?

Make sure to get the high efficiency model. You can easily run the ac on a Honda 2000.

Replacing: If you are replacing the ENTIRE A/C (All 3 modules) then it is unhook the old one drop in the new one (Thermostat wires, Power wires and that's all)

But since you are replacing a brisk air with a brisk air you should be able to just replace the UPPER unit, plug it in and it runs..

I have Carrier Air V's. no longer made so direct replacement is not an option.. The Adapt-a-kit for the upper unit I used as a replacement had only six parts in it (7 if you count the instructions) 4 mounting bolts, A "Y" cable that only hooks up one way and a replacement molex connector that replaced ONE of the Molex on the Carrier control box.. Total "Modification" time under five minutes and the installer did NOT know how to put in the connector (I did, that's my field)

It looks as if all i need to do is to set the unit, plug in the thermostat, and attach the electric. It appears that the newer unit has a smaller ceiling fixture than the old. This is a non-ducted system.

All of the rooftop A/C units use the same size opening. You do not require replacing with the same brand in most cases. Most thermostat A/C units use the same type of control wiring too.

Same type of unit......direct replacement.

The Brisk II is just smaller/shorter overall then the Brisk but they all use the same roof opening. (14 1/4" X 14 1/4" square opening)

Just need to clean roof area so new roof seal will set properly.

More unbolt/rebolt plus unwire and rewire than plug and play if both have all the controls on the unit itself. 🙂

Cleaning the roof for the new gasket to seat well took some effort when we removed our Colemans for new gaskets.

A tractor, etc with a front end loader is handy to transfer the old one off and the new one on to the roof to save packing up ladders.
