All trailer lights flash when let off brake pedal

I'm wondering if anyone has run into the same issue I have . Last year I bought a 2018 Jayco Eagle 27.5 RLTS. When I am towing and have all my marker lights on, all of my lights flash when I let off the brake pedal(every time). All of my lights work as they should for normal use. I just cant figure out why they flash. I checked all of my 7 way connections to see if there was any corrosion(found none) and I checked to see if all the wires were in the correct position (all correct). My brakes work as they should.

I asked my dealer and they don't have a clue.

My tow vehicle is a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500HD. I tow a equipment trailer with this truck and do not have the issue with that trailer.

I'm hoping someone else has run into this and might have an answer.

Thanks!!
  • A couple of less intuitive things to check:
    1. Do you have enough slack in the trailer umbilical cord when connected to your TV? Maybe the plug is being nudged when you pull out from a stop.
    2. Follow the ground wire from the plug to the trailer frame. Is it solidly grounded to the frame? Also check the connection inside the trailer-mounted splice box (if there is one).
  • Which style of seven pin connector, RV blade or round utility trailer?
Flashing could be a circuit breaker tripping then resetting. Cause could be over loaded circuit.
Test your trailer using a jumper wire from trailer battery to each of the lighting functions in the trailer.

verify with test lamp that the battery pin on the trailer is going to battery.

Verify ground in connector is going to battery negative.
There should be a circuit breaker in the small box or adjacent to it where the connector cable changes to the trailer wiring system. Make sure it is on the positive cable wire.
