Another Slide out Question

I know there have been many questions on Slide outs not working but I could not find one that addressed my issue. I am a full timer so slide out stays out for long periods of time. I have to move it and the slide out will not move. I press the power button and the lights will dim in RV but the slide will not move. I tried using the hand crank but it will not move it either. I am a retired female and am not sure what or where to start looking to troubleshoot this issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I know it does not have a brake as i have used it many times before with no problem I will look to getting battery charged and see if that works

Some larger slides have a brake on the motor that must be released to move manually. Usually a slot with a rubber plug on the bottom of motor. A lever inside that needs to be shifted to opposite side of slot. It may be stuck not allowing motor to run (the reason the lights dim).

I do not know if the slide is electric or hydrolic. Sorry. Where do I find any kind of lock mechanism? Do I need to locate the motor? Top is clear from obstruction and I have tried pushing. Unfortunately I have to fix this myself do not have the luxury of calling in a Mobile tech at their prices. ๐Ÿ˜ž
I do appreciate everyones help. Thank you

I am thinking the gear box is rusted up. Probably needs disassembly or replacement. I assume the OP would know if there was a lock mechanism to be released.

Have you asked someone to give the motor some assist by pushing on the slide while you press the button?

Checked the top of the slide for obstruction?

All slides operate with a push of a button. Is this slide electric or hydraulic?

Well if she has the batt load tested and it is OK, it just might be time for her to cal a reputable mobile tech.

I went thru some slide problems years back and the large slide did have a brake on it.

Listen,....... She said it won't move manually. And this is coming from a probably tough ole gal. So if she can't move it, the battery probably can't either. ๐Ÿ™‚

Can also be a bad ground connection. My 2002 Sun line had a ground cable. It came loose and the slide wouldn't operate. Once it was reattached, problem solved.

one our one slide even if you run it in or out manually some one still needs to hold the manual override button. It has a lock on it to stop any movement. So you still would need two people and 12 volt power for it to work.

Sounds like slide out is binding.......using hand crank try to extend it a little bit then try to retract.

Slide outs are typically wired directly to battery with their own in-line fuse or dc circuit breaker.......so a fully charged battery is needed even when plugged into shore power

Slides are dependent on the battery even when plugged in to electric. The hand crank is often very hard to turn, especially after sitting a while.

THe RV is plugged in to electric . Would it still be using the battery? If that be the case then why won't the hand crank work either. It will not budge in either direction.

Battery would be my guess.
