Atwood 6 gal DSI HWH "issue"

This began the end of last season - getting rig ready for coming travel season, issue still present.

HWH fires when turned on, runs about 5 seconds, goes off. This repeats for a total of 3 times. Turn off switch to HWH, turn back on - fires once, stays lit.

Anyone got an idea as to why it is doing this? Thanks! ST
  • Easy fix!
This is something that is on my list of spring start up. Clean refer, burner area, clean furnace and clean water heater. Check all connections.
  • Follow-up.... So, dissected the DSI on the heh today, made sure multi wire plug was well seated, carefully cleaned ceramic electrode, brushed out inside of heating tube. Back together, it fired right up. Can't tell which thing helped, guessing a combination of everything. But back in service for now! Appreciate the suggestions. ST
  • Clean the burner tube and ignitor/flame sensor.
Inspect the porcelain portion of the ignitor/flamesensor for cracks.
Clean multi-wire connector on circuit board.
  • Clean the flame proofer and see if that helps. It's the long tubular thing sitting above the flame. Just very lghtly polish it with some every cloth.
