Atwood Heater wiring issue-fixed
I have had problems with my Atwood GC10A-4E water heater and I figured out the issue and wanted to share in case anyone else has a problem with theirs.
I bought a 2007 fifth wheel used and the heater never worked on electric, only propane. It did not matter to me at the time as I only dry camped, same as the original owner. Now it matters since I hook up for 3 months in the summer.
I figured it was the heating element, but thankfully I called Atwood and spoke with them. They are fantastic to deal with. He figured it was a bad/broken wire that went from my heater switch in the bathroom to the circuit board. Come to find out the dealer wired it wrong from the beginning.
They had a wire crossed to the wall switch for the electric side. Easy fix in the end after a headache of trouble shooting. I am no electrician, but once I followed the wiring schematic it was simple to see the issue.
