Atwood Hot Water Heater Issue Resolved

Just thought I would post what happened for those that may have an issue with their Hot Water Heater in the future. Over this past weekend, I finally felt comfortable enough with the weather to de-winterize our travel trailer. Furnace works-Check, Air Conditioner works-Check, Anti-Freeze flushed out--Check, Hot Water Heater bypass valves reversed from winterization-Check, Hot Water Heater works-ummm Houston we have a problem! No ignition. It's a propane only electronic ignition model. So I check the fuse. Looks good. All the connections look good and secure. Blow out everything with air in case of spiders or other little creatures. No problems there. Check all the plugs. All looked good except the one going to the ignitor. it had some corrosion. I looked at the ignitor as well and I could see green build up on the rods. So I unplugged the ignitor and removed it. Got some 320 grit sand paper and cleaned the plug pin and the ignitor rods, put everything back together and tried again....WALA! Houston we have ignition! It turned out to be a very easy fix and one that anyone can do if you're the least bit handy, so before heading off to have things repaired and spending the money, get to know your Hot Water Heater. They really are simple and easy to understand if you spend a few minutes looking at the components.
