Anyone tried one of these? Looks like a great idea for those of us without a wall thermostat. Shuts down the fan with the compressor. Don't have to listen to the fan all night after it cools down.

I would not use it.. Here is why.

I run the fans on HIGH all the time. I find my mind swiftly "Filters" the sound so to the point where I can have to check to insure the unit is running.

But if I turn the fan on and off.. NOISY they are.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Ah ha, I see your point.

A lot of folks internal thermostat runs a lot cooler than mine... My body puts out enough heat, and moisture to warm up and steam up my closed small trailer even if it's cool/cold outside. The rare times when the dog would sleep in the trailer, it seemed to put out twice as much heat and moisture as I did (150# worth of dog).

if it's going down to 60 or less at night, I switch off the AC at bed time and open windows / roof vents, maybe with the bathroom vent on exhaust low.

I doubt that it is accurate to within one degree. However, on a typical 80/60 degree day/night situation, it should shut off sometime in the middle of the night and stay off until morning. I think that it would emulate the "Auto" setting on units with a wall thermostat, even if not as sensitive.

I'm curious how it works. Since the thermostat is in the return air, how does the thermostat read the temperature when the air isn't moving?

Interesting product... as loud as the fan is on my Mach 3, having it cycle on and off all night might be more distracting than just letting it run all the time.
