Awning roller cable/insert problem

Hi folks!
I have a 16 ft front awning made by Solera and the motor housings are labeled LCI (Lippert). Problem: A grey 3/16" cable runs the length of the 16 ft roller and holds the fabric awning into the groove (also running the length of the awning), and it comes out about a 1/8" with every opening and closing...so by now it's length is about 12" long. Does anyone know how to shove the cable back into the fabric awning or what can be done to get it back into the awning pocket and groove...without taking the awning off? Let me know if i need to clarify the question. Thanks a bunch!
  • Get pressure off the fabric and use a screen spline roller tool and push it back in then use a small screw and washer to secure it in
  • Get some pressure off the fabric like Newman said and a blunt object and small rubber mallet and work it back in. Sounds like the channel is slightly to big but most likely the cord is a little off. After ts fixed I would stop the awning just short of tight.

The "Cable" is in fact screen spline. not cable at all. It does that. I had the same problem

As others said. Extended the awning. Set it on a step ladder so the fabric was not under stress.. Worked it back in (Alternative is to remove the fabric) and stuck two screws. one near each end.
  • Make sure you roll the awning in and out a few times to make sure it's centered before putting in the screws
  • You folks are a great help to me. It always helps to have support when it comes to maintaining our home away from home. I'll give this a try.
