Battery Choices

I am doing this for a friend. He has 4 Interstate U--2200 that are BAD and he wants to replace them. He is looking at Centurion from a local RV Dealer @ $115 each. I have never heard of them and am not sure if that is a good price anyway. ANY opinions?

Thanks LeeB
  • After physically going to Costco I found them. Apparently my friend had called and who ever he talked to did not know...

    Thanks for your help........

Just read this from another forum

    dated FEB2012
    home office of Interstate Battery.

The battery part number that replaces the U2200 is “GC2-XHD”.

The reason for the change in the part number is that Interstate Battery changed the company that makes our golf cart batteries for us. Our golf cart batteries are now made by another battery manufacturer which makes golf cart batteries that (according to extensive testing) have an even higher level of quality and useful life.

Sure hope COSTCO still carries the 6V Golf Cart Batteries... Was going to try get some this season...

  • Lately Costco has been carrying a lower rated GC2 with a bout 10% less RC. :(
Be sure to check price on Interstate U2200 and some Trojan T-105 before you "save money" going with Centurian.

Be sure you are comparing RC or Ah to know what you are getting.
  • Our Costco had them on large pallet.
Try Sam's Club, they are about the same price as Costco.
  • If they're close by, check or call more than one Costco. Both of ours carried them on Saturday when I was there. What I didn't know was that the Costco on the other side of town carries D-8 batteries I need for a piece of equipment and the Costco on my side of town has never carried them.

  • Take a bathroom scale. This will weed out the lightweights. Ask the RV dealer what his procedure is if he should have a battery returned for warranty.

Go to Costco! Around here they are about $80. Have lasted good. I beleive they are same rating as the 2200

He said he did check at Costco and they said they didn't have them anymore? I happen to be going there this afternoon and will check myself... Thanks....
